About LMGA

The Landings Mens Golf Association of The Landings Club on Skidaway Island, near Savannah, Georgia, is dedicated to improving the golf experience of Club members.  All adult male club members are eligible to join. The Landings is the leading golf community in the Southeastern U.S., offering six golf courses, four clubhouses, four practice ranges, three greens for chipping and sand practice, and more than a dozen PGA professionals on staff.

The all-volunteer, member-driven LMGA arranges golf competitions in a variety of formats each Thursday, rotating among the golf courses. At the end of the year, the LMGA puts on a two-day Championship Tournament and a Player of the Year is named.

Competitions are about competing, of course. But, just as important, they are about friends, comraderie, and enjoying the game. LMGA members carry handicaps from under 10 to over 20, with most playing between those two. Members can play from the tees they prefer—generally Club, Medal and Combo. Players can walk or use carts.

About half of the games are A-B-C-D team competitions and about half are flighted by handicaps. In individual games, players compete against others of similar handicaps. After play, beer and soda is provided.

Every month from January through October, the third Thursday is a match play event that is part of the yearlong Bouchillon-Ambrose Cup. Each member is assigned to one of four teams named after the four clubhouses – Marshwood, Palmetto, Oakridge and Deer Creek. On B-A Cup Thursdays, beer, soda and lunch is provided. At the end of the year, a three-day tournament is held to determine the winner of the Cup.  LMGA also holds a two-day championship culminating in a Player of the Year award at the annual end-of-the-year LMGA members meeting and dinner.

From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the LMGA sponsors a Wednesday night scramble that is open to all members; play begins at 6 pm, allowing LMGA members who are still working to participate.

The LMGA is a member of the Hilton Head Interclub League which organizes competitions among ten other regional private golf clubs. The Landings team won the championship for the 2021-2022 season.

LMGA members work with the Club’s pros and staff to support Landings Club events including the Super Bowl Scramble; the Masters Par 3 tournament; and the Superintendent’s Revenge.

LMGA members also work with Landings Club staff to maintain the high quality and superb condition of the golf courses.
