Bouchillon-Ambrose Cup Match – February 21st

This was the 2nd match of the 2019 Bouchillon-Ambrose season. The game this month was singles net-ball match play with our two 1-0 teams (Deer Creek and Oakridge) and our two 0-1 teams (Marshwood and Plantation) competing against each other.

The Oakridge – Deer Creek match was close with Oakridge pulling out a 10 ½ to 9 victory aided by a total of ½ point from their 3 Overflow players who scored 32+ in their Stableford play. The Marshwood – Plantation match was even closer with Plantation edging out Marshwood by a score of 11 ¾ to 11 despite Marshwood outscoring Plantation by ¼ point with their Overflow matches. Given that this was a B-A match, there was no Skins competition.

As usual for a B-A match, hamburgers and brats along with beverages awaited all the golfers at the 19th hole. Thank you, Plantation staff, for a great 19th hole. And thank you LMGA folks who make this happen week-in and week-out: President Bob Hainly for making the food arrangements; Tom Seipel and Larry Brown for handling our weekly beverages; and John Bellucci, Steve Skipper, and Mike Munro for continuing to keep us organized despite many last-minute changes.

So, the 2019 B-A season is off and running with Oakridge in the lead with 2 points, Deer Creek and Plantation with 1 point each, and Marshwood still looking for its first win of the season. While some of the Oakridge players credit their Captain Jeff DeHaven for motivating them onto victory, several other players said it has to do with their Black Hats intimidating their opponents. Stay tuned for this evolving story.

And speaking of “stay tuned”, next month the competition stays at Plantation on Mar 21st when Oakridge tries to remain undefeated competing against Plantation, and Marshwood tries to earn its first point playing against Deer Creek. The format is 2-Man teams Modified Alternate Shot Match Play. Sign up now so that you don’t get left out. And while you are at it, sign up now for next week’s Thirsty Thursday match at Deer Creek where the game will be 4-man ABCD teams required to take one or more net balls on odd holes and exactly two net balls on even holes.
