Bouchillon-Ambrose Cup Match – March 21st

This was the 3rd match of the 2019 Bouchillon-Ambrose season. The game this month was 2-Man teams Modified Alternate Shot Match Play where one player's drive was selected, his partner hit the second shot, and players continued to alternate until the ball was holed out. The 5 Overflow folks played individual Stableford where a 32 or higher score added ¼ point to their team’s score.

In the Oakridge – Plantation match, Oakridge won handily 6.5 to 5.25 aided by a ½ to ¼ victory in the Overflow matches. The Marshwood – Deer Creek match was even more of a runaway with Marshwood winning by a score of 6.75 to 4.5, aided by a ¼ point victory in the Overflow play. Given that this was a B-A match, there was no Skins competition. And pace of play was good considering the alternating shot format and the distances some folks had to travel out and back from their starting/ending holes.

As usual for a B-A match chicken, hot dogs, and brats along with beverages awaited all the golfers at the 19th hole. Thank you, Plantation staff, for another great 19th hole. And thank you LMGA folks who make this happen week-in and week-out: President Bob Hainly for making the food arrangements; Tom Seipel and Larry Brown for handling our weekly beverages; and John Bellucci, Steve Skipper, and Mike Munro for continuing to keep us organized despite many last-minute changes.

So, the 2019 B-A season is heating up with Oakridge still undefeated with 3 points. In a tie for second place (and also DFL) are the other three teams who have 1 point each. Looks like Captain Jeff DeHaven’s “black-hat” team continues to intimidate all of the other competition. Wonder how the “black hats” will fare once the weather turns hot and muggy.

Next month on April 18th the competition moves to Deer Creek (no we are not playing from the Savanah Championship tees). Oakridge will try to remain undefeated competing against Deer Creek, and Marshwood will be playing against Plantation. The format will be 18 holes of 4-Ball with 2-man teams taking their best Net Ball in a match play format. And as a reminder, there is no Thirsty Thursday play next week due to the Savannah Golf Championship.
