Bouchillon-Ambrose Cup Match – May 16th

This was the 5th match of the 2019 Bouchillon-Ambrose season. The game this month was 18 holes of Individual Match Play.

In the Oakridge – Plantation match, Oakridge was the clear winner with a 10 ¾ to 8 ½ point victory which included ¼ point for 1 overflow player who shot over 32 for his Stableford round. However, the Marshwood – Deer Creek match was much more of a nail-biter. They were tied at 8 ½ but Marshwood had 4 overflow players who all shot better than 32 resulting in an additional point for Marshwood and enabling them to win by a point.

Given that this was a B-A match, there was no Skins competition. And pace-of-play was excellent with everyone into the Clubhouse around the 4 hour mark.

So, the 2019 B-A monthly play is over half completed with Oakridge still undefeated with 5 points. Retaining its second place standing with another win this month was Marshwood with 3 points. And maintaining their tie for third place (aka DFL) are the Deer Creek and Plantation teams, each with 1 point. Oakridge Captain Jeff DeHaven’s “black-hat” team continues to intimidate all of the other clubhouses. But everyone continues to wonder how the “black hats” will fare once the weather turns hot and muggy next month.

As usual for a B-A match, food and beverages awaited everyone at the 19th hole. This week it was cold cuts, pulled pork, and pulled chicken sandwiches served up with everyone’s favorite beverages. Thank you, Oakridge staff, for another great 19th hole. And thank you LMGA folks who make this happen week-in and week-out: President Bob Hainly and Steve Bunn for making the food arrangements; Tom Seipel and Larry Brown for handling our weekly beverages; and John Bellucci, Steve Skipper, and Mike Munro for continuing to keep us organized despite many last-minute changes.

Next month on Jun 20th the B-A competition remains at Oakridge. Marshwood will try to close the gap with undefeated Oakridge, and Plantation and Deer Creek will battle it out for sole DFL. The format will be 2-Man teams in Match Play playing a Modified Alternate Shot format. Each player will hit a drive, one player's drive will be selected, and then the player's partner will hit the second shot. Players will continue to alternate until the ball is holed out or the hole is conceded. A minimum number of drives will be required.

And as a reminder, Thirsty Thursday play next week is at Magnolia where we will have a 2 or more best ball competition. This event will require four-man teams to take two or more net balls, with at least 2 flights. Sign up now for both events to beat the rush!
