Bouchillon-Ambrose Cup Match - July 18th Summary:

This was the 7th match of the 2019 Bouchillon-Ambrose season. The game this month was 4-Ball match play where 2-Man teams use their best net ball.

In the Marshwood – Deer Creek match, Deer Creek was the clear winner with a 5 to 2 point victory.

In the Oakridge - Plantation match, the Plantation team was the winner with a 4 to 2 point victory over previously undefeated Oakridge.

The toughness of the course and environmental conditions were highlighted by the fact that all eight overflow players (2 for Marshwood and 6 for Oakridge) were unable to achieve a Stableford score of 32 or better, the break-point for adding points to their team's total. Given that this was a B-A match, there was no Skins competition. Pace-of-play was excellent with everyone back to the scoreboard for lunch and beverages within 4 hours. So, the 2019 B-A monthly play has completed 7 rounds of golf with Oakridge now having one loss and 6 points. As a result of their loss today to Plantation, Marshwood is now tied in second place in the standings with Plantation with 3 points. And even with their impressive win today, Deer Creek is maintaining its hold on DFL, but not far behind with 2 points.

The Oakridge team has locked up first place in the standings and will be the top-seeded team going into October's playoff rounds. However, a change in this year's playoff format will keep every team in the playoffs so every point earned during the season is important. As usual for a B-A match, food and beverages awaited everyone at the 19th hole. This week it was cold cuts and pulled chicken served up with everyone’s favorite beverages.

Thank you, Plantation staff, for a great 19th hole. And thank you LMGA folks who make this happen week-in and week-out: President Bob Hainly and Steve Bunn for making the food arrangements; Tom Seipel and Larry Brown for handling our weekly beverages; and John Bellucci, Steve Skipper, and Mike Munro for continuing to keep us organized despite many last-minute changes.

Next month on August 15th, the B-A competition moves to Deer Creek. Marshwood will try to continue the Oakridge team's losing streak (of one) while Deer Creek will try to continue their winning streak (of one) and move out of sole-DFL with a victory over Plantation. The format will be 18 holes of individual match play. And as a reminder, Thirsty Thursday play next week is at Oakridge where we will play the ever-popular pick-six scramble. Sign up now for both events to beat the rush!
