Bouchillon-Ambrose Cup Match V – May 31st

Thursday play resumed after a 2 week pause for the Spring Invitational and the “Be True to Your School Challenge” tournaments. The game was 2-man teams playing Modified Alternative Shot match play with each match being worth 2 points for the winner and halved matches worth 1 point for each team. Deer Creek competed against Oakridge while Plantation played Marshwood. Almost 70 players participated in the 2 matches with several new folks (both to The Club and to LMGA) joining us for the first time.

Oakridge continued its winning ways from the last 2 months by beating Deer Creek decisively 12 to 5. Marshwood also continued its winning way from last month, beating Plantation by an even greater margin of 12.25 to 2.75. Given the format, no skins were played this week nor could a DFL award be given to any team or player. But it should be noted that the Marshwood Dons (Snyder and Sturtz) shot even par – way to go guys! And everyone was at the scoreboard in less than 4 hours so a big shout-out to all the players for great pace-of-play.

After 5 matches, we have a 3-way tie for first place with Oakridge and Marshwood catching up to Plantation, all who have 3 points. And once again, sorry Deer Creek, but you are bringing up the rear with only 1 point. Rumor is that DC is saving themselves for the 2nd half of the BA season.

Dining at the patio at Oakridge, all enjoyed the brats along with the ice-cold beverages at the 19th hole. And once again shout-outs to all our LMGA folks who make this happen week-in and week-out: President Mike Barber for making the food arrangements; Tom Seipel, Larry Brown and Tom Collins for handling our weekly beverages; and John Bellucci, Steve Skipper, and Mike Munro for continuing to keep us organized despite many last-minute changes.

So, congratulations to the Marshwood and Oakridge teams on their victories. And to Deer Creek, it’s not too early to start your 2nd half rally. Don’t forget to sign up now for our next Thirsty Thursday play and it’s never too early to sign up for our next BA Cup outing on June 21st.
