We wanted to remind you all that there will be no Thirsty Thursday play on May 24th. The LMGA board heartily supports the new “Be True to Your School Challenge” tournament which is being sponsored by our Landings Club. Rather than hold our weekly game, we wanted to provide every opportunity for our membership to participate in this new tournament.
You can sign-up online via the Club Events Calendar which is scheduled for a 1pm tee-off. TLC hopes many people will sign-up as foursomes or clusters of foursomes. But since many of our members may not know who else went to their school(s), TLC will help connect them if they sign up as an individual or twosomes. As sign-ups come in, TLC may identify school captains and share names others can contact from their same school(s). If any LMGA member would like to serve as a captain for their school team and help coordinate players, please contact Ellen Jacobs.
There be the usual prizes for low best-ball scores, gross and net, among foursomes in flights that TLC hope will align with traditional conferences (SEC, ACC, Big Ten, Big East, etc.), but the grand prizes will be awarded in broad categories(large school/small school/…) based on the net best ball of ALL of a school's participants (men and women alike) on each hole. Thus, the more players that a school enlists, the better it is for that school’s team.
Decorating carts with school flags/colors is highly encouraged. And note that there is a non-golfers option to participate in the 19th hole tailgate party.
