Results for 28 September B-A Match

If you think college football is exciting, you should tune in to the LMGA's hotly contested Bouchillon-Ambrose Cup race!  At Plantation, over 80 members represented their respective teams, doing what they could to improve their seeding on the final day of the regular season.  In a battle of the top two teams, Oakridge defeated Plantation to move into a two-way tie for first place, and Oakridge edged Plantation in the tie-breaker to take the top seed heading into the playoffs on 11 and 12 October.  Lowly Deer Creek upset perennial powerhouse Marshwood to move into a two-way tie for third, and then Deer Creek edged Marshwood in the tie-breaker to take the third seed in the playoffs.  So the final seeding heading into the championships will be:

1st Oakridge, 2nd Plantation, 3rd Deer Creek, and 4th Marshwood

Meanwhile, during the day, some outstanding golf was played, believe it or not.  The feature match pitted Eddie Ambrose against Paul Gooden, who confessed (frequently, with gritted teeth) that he didn't mind giving Eddie two strokes.  Eddie was three up after 15, but Paul sank a 25 foot birdie putt on the 16th and won the 17th to send the match to the 18th hole.  On the tension-filled final hole, Eddie rallied and birdied to secure his match and earn an overall victory for Deer Creek.  What an exciting, high-quality match!  Players who won points for their team (and points for the LMGA Player of the Year Award)  were:

Oakridge:  Dave Angell, John Baker, Roger Belanger, Tom Collins, Herb Gallagher, Rich Happel, John Higgins, Paul Lieberman, Allan Morrell, Rick Stark, Ken Ura, Paul Warhola, Bill Wolod, and Tom Seipel
