The game this week was a crowd favorite – Pick-Six scramble where each 4-man team hits six tee shots from three different tee boxes. Flight 1 was our AB players who hit from the Tournament/Club/Plantation tees while our Flight 2 of CD players hit from the Club/Medal/Skidaway tees.
In Flight 1, there was drama once again at the scoreboard. At the 4 hour mark, only 1 team remained out on the course. And when they showed up at the scoreboard, they managed to beat the best team in the clubhouse by 2 strokes (55 vs. 57). While there were reports that some members of the team might have been using their rangefinders to scope-out the scoreboard before they turned in their card, none of the reports could be corroborated and 1st prize was awarded to our tardy team of Mike Barber, Jeff DeHaven, John Marich, and Paul Warhola. And drama continued throughout the 19th hole as there was some questioning of the tie-breaker rules to determine who took 3rd place in Flight 1.
In Flight 2 no drama; just good competitive golf where the 1st place team won by 1 stroke over the 2nd place team who won by a stroke over the 3rd place team. The winning team, with a score of 56, was the team of Bob Meng, Bill Porter, Jim Shirley, and Lee Bodary. Given the Scramble format, there was no Skins competition today.
So, congratulations to all our winners. As a reminder, our next Thirsty Thursday event will be next Thursday September 6th at Palmetto where we will have individual Stableford play within each A-B-C-D Group. Don’t forget to sign up soonest so that we can see y’all there.
