Pick six was the game this week with an A-B/C-D scramble. A and B players were in Flight 1 and C and D players in Flight 2.
Scramble format – as a reminder, each player hits a drive, the team selects the best ball then all players drop from that point and play the second shot, etc. Each team must use at least 3 drives from each player. “Pick six” refers to: Each team must select six tees from three different teeing grounds.
- A-B teams select six from Tournament, six from Club, and six from the course named tees
- C-D teams select six from Club, six from Medal, and six from Skidaway tees.
The interesting element in this game incorporates the strategy of which tees to hit from on each hole. The A flight winning team had a good strategy (and some fine play) as they made 5 pars and 14 birdies! The B flight winning team was led by chief strategist Tom Lanahan who had the entire course mapped out ahead of time for his foursome.
Due to the scramble format, there were no skins. Most groups were in within 3 ½ hours. A couple groups in Flight B were well behind, possibly due to not pre-planning the round.
The winners in Flight 1 were:
1st Place: Thomas, O’Donnell, Munro, Quinn. 2nd Place: Schepis, Warhola, Heyman, Hainly.
3rd Place: Bradford, Bellucci, J. Palermo.
The winners in Flight 2 were:
1st Place: Poleynard, Skipper, Cricenti, Lanahan. 2nd Place: Puccini, R. Rubin, Gladden, D. Evans. 3rd Place: D. Higgins, Angell, Fosse.
