The game this week was a “’pick six” team scramble at Oakridge with A/B and C/D teams in Flights 1 and 2 respectively. The format was a straight scramble where each team used at least 3 drives from each player. Each team selected six tees from three different teeing grounds. A/B teams used the Tournament, Club, and Course-Named tees while the C/D teams used the Club, Medal, and Skidaway tees.
In Flight 1, the team of Terry Irvin, Roger Belanger, Thomas Zapatka, and Paul Warhola took 1st place with a -17-score, edging out 3 other teams who were at -16 (lots of “if I only made that putt” regrets here). In Flight 2, Don Snyder, Gary Daniel, Randy Gladden, and Rick Cunningham took 1st place with a -16-score, 3 shots ahead of their nearest competitor.
Given the Scramble format, there was no Skins competition. There was also no “DFL award”’ as there was no clear “winner” as all of the teams were bunched up from -12 to -19. And pace-of-play was great with all teams in under 4 hours. Way to go guys!!!
So, congratulations to all our winners. Next Thursday, August 1st, we will be at Marshwood for a “Two or More” competition where each four-man team will be required to take at least 2 net balls on every hole. And as usual, there will be liquid refreshments at the 19th hole so sign up now to ensure you don’t miss out!
