The game this week was a 4-person team Stableford competition. There was one flight of mixed ABCD teams with three winners: the team with the best overall score followed by the team with the best Front 9 score followed by the team with the best Back 9 score. And teams were not permitted to win more than one competition as there was no “double dipping” allowed.
Led by Frank “5 Birdies” Schepis, the team of Frank, Joel Weiner, John Evans, and Allan Boyce won the overall competition with a score of 153. Winning the Front 9 competition with a score of 76 was the team of Scott Lauback, Peter Altman, and Maurice Greene (it should be noted that the Schepis team had a front 9 score of 82 but were restricted from “double dipping”). The Back 9 winning team was the team of Ron Thomas, Jim Golz, Ed O’Donnell, and Bob Kaplan with a score of 74 (again it should be noted that the Laubach team had a Back 9 score of 75 but were also restricted from “double dipping”). Are you still with me on all of this??? Skins was much easier – 5 Skins and 5 Winners with a huge pot to split.
However, there was a team worthy of “double dipping” for DFL. First, there was only one team that finished with a score below 120. And while all the other teams were enjoying their beverages at the Deer Creek scoreboard, this team was still on the course, finishing their round on the 18th green and then having to walk the “walk of shame” over to the scoreboard. And the team members – Edgar Yu, Dan Malachuk, John Higgins, and Dick Higgins, our “double dipping” DFL team. But all-in-all, pace of play was good with even our DFL team finishing around 4 hours. Way to go folks!!!

As a reminder, our next Thirsty Thursday event will be next Thursday Aug 2nd at Oakridge where we will have another Stableford competition but with teams consisting of all A or B or C or D players and flighted similarly.
