LMGA Interclub League Update - - - January 25, 2025
An update on our Interclub Team's efforts. Thus far, we are 3-1 (win/loss) in matches, which is good news. However, we're realizing close wins where in prior years, by this point, we've had a few large margin wins. Still, there is a lot of golf left.....6 matches.By the way, our 1/22/2025 match was delayed until Friday 2/28 due to the cold weather this week. Good call! After four matches, we are in 4th place in Total Points. Keep in mind, four teams have only played three matches as the hosting team does not play their own course. The Landings Club will host our Interclub Match on Wednesday 2/5 at Palmetto. More on that later. The Landings Club is in 6th place when you look at Points / Week. Two teams ahead of us have only played 3 matches. The traditionally stronger teams (The Landings, Palmetto Hall, and Moss Creek) are in the top part of the leagues rankings as expected.Palmetto Dunes and Port Royal have secured victories in their matches against some of the league's weaker teams, allowing them to accumulate valuable points. In contrast, Sea Pines has established itself as a formidable contender, currently leading the league in Points per Week. This achievement is notable as they have faced one weaker opponent and two of the other top six teams, which highlights their challenging schedule. The disparity in strength of schedule among these teams may play a crucial role in their overall standings as the season progresses. As the competition heats up, it will be interesting to see how these dynamics affect their performances moving forward.
This year's competition is shaping up to be quite competitive, with all teams closely matched. Both Palmetto Hall and Moss Creek are showing promising performance, indicating a strong season ahead. To improve our standing in the Points / Week metric, we must secure more decisive victories as we progress through the matches.
There's still plenty of golf left in the season, and we will provide further updates after our next two matches.
On Wednesday, February 5th, The Landings Club will host our upcoming match at Palmetto. We will be reaching out for volunteers to assist with guiding guests to their designated shotgun starting holes and managing the scoring table as teams finish their rounds. Keep an eye out for that email later this month, as your support will be greatly appreciated!
