The team of Robert Balmes, John Dempsey, Terry Irvin and Rich Matos won the week’s scramble on the Palmetto course with a score of 32, 4 under par. The team birdied its first and second holes, the par 4 8th and 9th and went on to birdie the par 3 3rd and the par 5 7th.
The winning team also won three skins, to run the table.
The second-place team of Sonny Brownlee, John Johnston, Ross Petronchak, and Jack Welch was one back, at 33.
None of The Landings pros were able to participate. A week earlier, when pros did join in the fun, two teams came in at 28, a remarkable 8 under par.
