BA Cup Competition Heads to the Playoffs

Last week’s Four Ball Match Play—the last BA Cup play date in regular season—resulted in Team Marshwood moving up to within one point of the BA Cup leader, Team Palmetto. Meanwhile, Team Oakridge maintained a one-point lead over the Deer Creek team.

Standings following the Sept. 21 round are Palmetto 6.5; Marshwood 5.5; Oakridge 3.5; and Deer Creek 2.5. The BA Cup final competition will take place over three dates in October: 9/5, 9/11 and 9/12.

To pull within one BA Cup point of the standings leader, Marshwood Team marshaled a mighty effort, winning seven matches outright while halving one for a total of 7 ½ for the day. Team Palmetto won only two matches along with the half, plus a ¾ point addition provided in Overflow by team captain Scott Happ to total 3 1/4.

In the Oakwood vs. Deer Creek match up, Team Oakwood squeezed past their competitors 4 ½ to 3 ¾, winning four matches and halving one, while Team DC took 3 ½ plus ¼ in Overflow thanks to the pairing of Brian Piening and Tony Marino.
