Bouchillon-Ambrose Cup Match – April 18th

This was the 4th match of the 2019 Bouchillon-Ambrose season. The game this month was 18 holes of 4-Ball with 2-man teams taking their best Net Ball in a match play format.

In the Marshwood – Plantation match, Marshwood won handily 6½ to 3½. However, the Oakridge – Deer Creek match was much more of a nail-bitter. They were tied at 5-5 with one foursome still out on the course battling it out. When the dust settled, the Oakridge twosome of Jon Sweet and Herb Gallagher carried the day with a victory, bumping Oakridge up to a 6-5 win. Given that this was a B-A match, there was no Skins competition.

So, the 2019 B-A monthly play is almost half completed with Oakridge still undefeated with 4 points. “Streaking” ahead into second place with a win this month was Marshwood with 2 points. And in a tie for third place (aka DFL) are the Deer Creek and Plantation teams, each with 1 point. Oakridge Captain Jeff DeHaven’s “black-hat” team continues to intimidate all of the other clubhouses. But everyone continues to wonder how the “black hats” will fare once the weather turns hot and muggy.

As usual for a B-A match, burgers and brats along with beverages awaited all the golfers at the 19th hole. Thank you, Deer Creek staff, for another great 19th hole. Sorry it had to end a bit prematurely due to a sudden unforecasted rain-shower. And thank you LMGA folks who make this happen week-in and week-out: President Bob Hainly for making the food arrangements; Tom Seipel and Larry Brown for handling our weekly beverages; and John Bellucci, Steve Skipper, and Mike Munro for continuing to keep us organized despite many last-minute changes.

Next month on May 16th the B-A competition moves to Oakridge. Oakridge will try to remain undefeated competing against Plantation, and Marshwood will be playing against Deer Creek. The format will be 18 holes of Individual Match Play. And as a reminder, Thirsty Thursday play next week is at Palmetto where it will be four-man teams who need to take one or more net balls on odd holes, and exactly 2 net balls on even holes. Sign up now for both events to beat the rush!
