Bouchillon-Ambrose Cup Match – April 2nd, 2020

What’s not to like! Instead of the KornFerry Savannah Golf Championship, we got the continuation of our 2020 B-A Cup season with Marshwood competing against Plantation and Deer Creek against Oakridge. This was the rescheduled match from February which was cancelled due to bad weather. The game was Individual net-score match play.

In the Deer Creek-Oakridge match, Deer Creek overpowered Oakridge both in individual match play and overflow play. Deer Creek won the match play session 7.5 to 6.5 and piled on in the overflow play 1.75 -.25 where 7 out of the 9 Deer Creek overflow players shot a Stableford score of 30 or higher. The Plantation – Marshwood match was even more lopsided with Plantation winning 11 to 7.5. Once again it goes to show the increasing importance of overflow players and their contributions to their teams.

Given that this was a B-A match, there was no Skins competition. And while there was no lunch served due to Corona Virus restrictions, the usual beverages were available. All appeared to have a great time while practicing their best social distancing behavior. A special SHOUT OUT goes to the Deer Creek staff and the LMGA folks who made this event a huge success while ensuring everyone stayed safe and followed all the Corona Virus guidelines. Thank you President Frank Schepis for overall organization; Tom Seipel and Larry Brown for handling our beverages; Bob Hainly for his scorekeeping; and John Bellucci, Steve Skipper, and Mike Munro for continuing to keep us organized despite many last-minute changes.

So, the 2020 B-A Cup season continues with Plantation remaining in first place with 2.5 points and Marshwood remaining DFL with 0.5 points. Deer Creek is now in sole possession of 2nd place with 2.0 points with Oakridge in third with 1.0 points. But that could all change on April 16th when the lead and DFL teams play each other, and the 2nd and 3rd place teams play each other. The game will be 2-man teams playing modified alternate-shot match play where both players hit drives, the team selects one drive, and plays alternate shot into the hole. Sign up now to play!

Next week we will be at Marshwood where the game will be Team Stableford. This will be a Stableford competition with four-man teams. Sign up now so you don’t miss out on the action. And given the new normal, social distancing will be the word and the practice of the day, both on the first 18 holes and at the 19th hole.
