Bouchillon-Ambrose Cup Match – January 17th

This was the inaugural match of the 2019 Bouchillon-Ambrose season. The game this week was 2-man teams playing net better-ball with Marshwood playing against Oakridge and Deer Creek against Plantation.

The Oakridge – Marshwood match was a blow-out with Oakridge winning handily 8-3. Oakridge’s score included 1 point from its 6 Overflow players as 4 of them scored 32 or more points in their individual Stableford matches (each “winning” player earned ¼ point). The Deer Creek – Plantation match was much closer. In spite of the fact that Plantation earned 1 Overflow point as 4 of its 7 Overflow players were “winners”, Deer Creek prevailed by a score of 5 ½ to 4 ½.

Given that this was a B-A match, there was no Skins competition. And pace of play was good with all teams back to the scoreboard on time. But we can single-out one of our players who was the buzz around the beverage cart. Rumor has it that Steve Heacox had five birdies contributing to his team closing out their match in 13 holes and helping Deer Creek best Plantation. Way to go Steve but don’t forget to post that score soonest so that you don’t run afoul of the “handicap police”.

Of special note was the dining and beverage services at the 19th hole which was held at Clubway for the first time. Everything came off without a hitch. Grills for Hot Dogs and Brats were set-up in front of the temporary Clubhouse and extra tables and chairs were provided by the Club staff so folks could sit outside and enjoy the sun (and some gnats) while they ate, drank and enjoyed each other’s company. Thank you Marshwood staff for a great 19th hole.

And thank you LMGA folks who make this happen week-in and week-out: President Bob Hainly for making the food arrangements; Tom Seipel and Larry Brown for handling our weekly beverages; and John Bellucci, Steve Skipper, and Mike Munro for continuing to keep us organized despite many last-minute changes.

So, the 2019 B-A season starts with both Oakridge and Deer Creek earning 1 point. But they just so happen to play each other next month on Feb 21st when the B-A Cup moves to Palmetto where there will be singles’ match play. Sign up now so that you don’t get left out. And while you are at it, sign up now for next week’s Thirsty Thursday match at Deer Creek where the game will be Individual Stableford play.
