Interclub League Final Decided by a Slim Margin

The Landings Club’s LMGA participation in Interclub League play ended in a final match against Hampton Hall on Feb. 21. The LMGA squad finished the 10-round season in second place with 491 total points, not far behind a strong Palmetto Hall team with 498.5 points and ahead of last year’s tournament winner, Moss Creek, with 490 points. This is the second year LMGA finished second. In 2022, our squad captured the tournament championship.

Co-Chair Bryan Morton noted that this year’s margin of victory and defeat was much closer than it appears, as the fourth-place finisher fell short by almost 50 points. Both he and Co-Chair Rich Matos described LMGA’s participation as “exceptionally solid throughout,” with 62 LMGA players contributing from season start to finish.

“We had a few blowouts in our favor, and we lost a couple of big ones,” said Morton, “but it’s a very competitive league. In the end it wasn’t a runaway by Palmetto Hall. Everybody who signed on with us had a spot on a team—we had great participation. That alone was a success, and we did very well overall.”
