June 30 Results: Rainy Weather Did Not Stop Good Scoring

By Rick Colvin

An incredible Team Stableford score of 79 on the front nine of the Deer Creek course highlighted the results of the rainy outing June 30 in which only 11 of 15 teams completed their rounds.

The team of Kevin Brandon, William Delaney, Martin Halper, and John Landuyt accumulated that number of points for the highest nine-hole score of the day and a win on the front nine in the 2nd Flight; teams were competing to win the back nine, front nine, or overall and could only win once.

How incredible is 79 for nine holes? Consider: if all four players in a foursome had a net par on every hole their team total would be only 72. Steady playing, gentlemen.

The team that won the overall prize also played extremely well, putting up a 147. The team consisted of Bruce Decker, Budd Equi, David Ryan and Sam Story.

John Evans, John Garone, Gerry Stolz, and Mark Witbeck took the back nine, with 70 points.

In the 1st Flight, the team of Scott Happ, James Headley, Gary Mehes, and Rich Matos came in with 141 points to win overall. On the front nine, Dave Creasy, David Evans, Dave Martin, and Tom Richards accumulated 73 points. Winning the back nine was the team of Brian Harkleroad, Sean Ryan, Don Snyder and David Johnson.
