LMGA Hole-in-One – October 31st

By way of background, the LMGA Hole-in-One pool has been going on for almost 3 years without a winner. LMGA members have contributed $5 each to build the pool up to $690. There have been 139 participants in the pool with thousands of rounds played since its inception. While we have had several (~3) Holes-in-One over the last 3 years in LMGA events, none of these players had joined the pool and were ineligible for the payout.

All of this changed on Wednesday October 31st during the LMGA Championship Tournament at Oakridge. Larry Brown hit his tee shot on Oakridge #3 straight into the cup, going in on the fly. For those interested in the details, Larry was playing from the Medal tees where the pin was 137 yards from the tee in a Middle placement. He used a 7 iron, hitting a Callaway Chrome Soft ball into a slight breeze on a beautiful cloudless morning. His foursome included Geoff Ingham, Edgar Yu, and John Schwonke. Of note, they needed to call the Pro Shop for maintenance crews to come out to repair the hole as Larry’s shot destroyed the front of the hole.

And for those who are curious, Larry has had two previous Holes-in-One, both at the Itanhanga Golf Clube in Rio de Janeiro. His second one was while playing with his wife Carol and was witnessed by a Japanese foursome who reportedly got much more excited than Larry, jumping up and down while congratulating him in Japanese.

So, congratulations to Larry on his first Hole-in-One in the USA!!! Everyone in the LMGA is waiting with bated breath on the details of his Hole-in-One party/Celebration!!! And for inquiring minds, the LMGA has already started a new pool where there are over 50 contributors to date. See Gary Anklowitz to sign up!
