September 23 Results: Exceptional Rounds by Two Players Lead to Two Team Victories

By Rick Colvin

Two foursomes rode great rounds by one of their players to win their flights in the September 23 LMGA competition on the Terrapin Point course.

The game was two better balls on even holes and one or more balls on the odd holes. In the 1st Flight, Herb Gallagher had six net birdies to help power his team to 18-under and a four-stroke margin of victory. Team members Tom Kelly and Mark Monson contributed net eagles on the par 4 7th hole. Kelly and team member Greg Snyder chipped in on the par 4 10th, a natural birdie for Snyder and a net birdie for Kelly.

The team of Bob Kaplan, Gary Poleynard, Brian Ray and Tom Richards came in second at 14-under and Steve O’Loughlin, Peter Quinn, Robert Rubin, and Don Snyder came in third at 13-under.

In the 2nd Flight, Bruce Gingold shot a net 68 to help his team to a 17-under tie for the lead. Gingold and his teammates—John Bellucci, Frank Schepis, and Jack Welch—won the flight in a cardoff with the team of Rick Cricenti, Bruce Decker, Dave Walradt, and Edgar Yu.  In third was the team of Peter Altman, Sonny Brownlee, Alan Kane, and Bryan Morton at 15-under.
