A field of 40 golfers, smaller than normal due to the weekend’s President’s Cup tournament and the late August date, enjoyed the fourth and last LMGA Fun Day of the season, a two-man scramble on Magnolia that featured beer, sodas, wraps, and hot dogs on the course and at the scoreboard.
The team of Roger Lee and Scott Happ shot a net 65, the lowest score of any team, to win the 1st flight. One stroke back were the teams of Jim Yablecki and Brad Battista and Bill Ansley and Jeff Nibley. Yablecki and Battista took second in a cardoff.
In the 2nd flight, James Headley and Warren Lewis carded a net 66 for the win. Two back at 68 were the teams of Chuck Zujkowski and Bill Turrentine and Ed O’Donnell and Bobby Balmes. Zujkowski and Turrentine came in second after comparing cards.
In the 3rd flight, the teams of Bill Delaney and Frank Cervino and Brian Piening and Mark Witbeck both shot 67s, with Delaney and Cervino earning the win, also by a card comparison. In third was the team of Steve Voss and Don Snyder with a 70.
Jim Graham and Ed Zimmer topped the 4th flight with a 69, the only team in their flight to break 70. Buck Buckner and Rick Kershaw came in second with 70 and Randy Gladden and Kenneth Ritz took third with a 71.
