Play date: June 20 – The recently renewed Palmetto course didn’t disappoint as LMGA teed off in this summer’s inaugural BA Cup competition that matched season-leading Team Deer Creek against Marshwood and second-ranked Team Palmetto versus winless Oakridge.
Defying expectations, Team Oakridge—which had failed until now to put even a single win on the season scoreboard—rallied to win big against their dominant rival, carrying 5 ½ matches over Palmetto’s 2 ½ wins. Meanwhile, Team Marshwood cratered in their match-ups against Deer Creek, winning only 1 ¾ match points against DC’s 5 wins.
As usual in Match Play, the Skins game was suspended. The competition was capped off with a hot lunch of weenies and brats, served on the Palmetto porch due to the afternoon’s intermittent light rain showers.
The season standings as of now are Deer Creek still out in front with 6 BA Cup points, Palmetto maintains second place with 3 points, while Team Marshwood is holding on at third place with 2 points over Oakridge’s lone win.
