Teams Go Low on Terrapin Point

By Rick Colvin

The LMGA game Dec. 8 on the Terrapin Point course was one or more scores on odd holes and exactly two scores on even holes and the team of Bob Benson, Jon Bokina, Rick Colvin, and Tom Young came in at 24-under to win the 1st Flight by two points.

The team got off to a hot start on the 13th hole, where Benson pushed his drive to the right of the cart path and, then, hit a driver out of the pine straw and through a 5-foot opening between two trees to 12 feet. He made the putt for the first of the team’s five birdies. Colvin made a 12-foot birdie putt on 16, Young birdied 2, and Bokina birdied 5 and 11.

The team of Sonny Brownlee, David Foley, John Soron, and Mark Witbeck came in second at 22-under, beating the 3rd place team of John Evans, Philip Libby, Bryan Morton, and Frank Schepis in a cardoff.

In the 2nd Flight, the team of Michael Allen, Robert Jackson, Edward O’Donnell, and Sean Ryan took first with a score of 23-under, one stroke better than the 2nd place team of Dale Johnson, David Johnson, Dan Malachuk, and Tom Richards. The team of James Headley, Peter Hering, Greg Snyder, and Steve Thomas came in 3rd at 20-under.
