Thirsty Thursday Results – August 27th

Our game this week was Team Stableford where 4-man teams competed using their total Stableford score for the round of 18 holes. There were two A-B-C-D Flights with a total of 19 teams, none of whom broke into the 140s (as a reminder, 144 is “par”).

Flight 1 was a runaway with the team of Don Snyder, Bill Wolod, and Tom Stephens shooting a Stableford round of 139, 17 strokes ahead of the second place team (you guys did multiple your score by 4/3 and not 5/3, didn’t you?). There were 5 teams bunched up between 122 and 118 while 2 teams brought up the rear with scores of 102 and 107. Flight 2 was a totally different story. The team of Pete Quinn, Gef Fleming, Tom Kunce, and Alan Kane took first place with a score of 133 which was 1-2-3 strokes ahead of the 2-4th place teams, respectively. The bulk of the remaining teams were all bunched up between scores of 126 and 122. The scoreboard results are attached.

A big SHOUT-OUT goes to our 3 new players: Dave Brown, Steve Geist, and Alex Inglese. While none of you were on one of the winning teams, we hope to see you in the upcoming weeks break into the Victory Circle. And a big WELCOME BACK to Ken Rubin and Tony Lombard who have rejoined us for Thirsty Thursday play after a hiatus. Congrats as you both were on the 2nd place team in Flight 2!

And as always, a special thanks goes to the LMGA folks who continue to make these events huge successes while ensuring everyone stays safe and follows all the Corona Virus guidelines. Thank you, President Frank Schepis, for overall organization and Don Snyder for beverage service help in Frank’s absence; Tom Seipel and Steve Voss for handling our beverages; and John Bellucci, Steve Skipper, and Mike Munro for continuing to keep us organized despite many last-minute changes.

Next week our game with be Front/Back/Overall scores using the Team Stableford scoring system at Oakridge. 4-man teams will compete using their total Stableford score for the Front (holes 1-9), Back (holes 10-18), and Overall (all 18 holes) with no “double-dipping” allowed. Individual Foursome tee times, and special scorecard and beverage handling procedures at the 19th hole will again be the order of the day. Sign up now so that you don’t get left out.
