Thirsty Thursday Results – August 6th

The game this week was four-man team-play using the total score for all players in the Stableford format. There was an A-B Flight and a C-D Flight.

In the A-B Flight, the team of Greg Snyder, Ron Thomas, Bob Schmidt, and Gary Poleynard recorded a score of 136, beating the second-place team by 2 points. In the C-D Flight, the team of Phil Redmond, Dick Higgins, and David Evans won a scorecard playoff over the team of Milo Moore, Herb Gallagher, and Paul Warhola, both who recorded scores of 136 (now if only Milo/Herb/Paul made just one more putt; sorry guys). Congratulations go out to all our winners!

A big shout-out goes to Greg Snyder who shot a 69 with 6 Birdies which helped carry his Flight 1 team to victory. And we had one new player today, Bob Wyont who started his LMGA “career” with a 2nd place finish in Flight 1. Welcome and way to go Bob!

From a DFL perspective, we had a clear low foursome of the day who recorded a score of 95 which was 14 points lower than the next lowest team. And yes, they did record the scores of all 4 players and for obvious reasons, they desire to remain anonymous, but you know who you are.

And as always, a special thanks goes to the LMGA folks who continue to make these events huge successes while ensuring everyone stays safe and follows all the Corona Virus guidelines. Thank you, President Frank Schepis, for overall organization and beverage service; Tom Seipel and Steve Voss for handling our beverages; and John Bellucci, Steve Skipper, and Mike Munro for continuing to keep us organized despite many last-minute changes.

Next week the 2020 B-A Cup season continues at Palmetto with food and beverages at the 19th hole. Our first-place team Deer Creek plays our DFL team Marshwood while second place Palmetto plays Oakridge. The game will be individual net-score match play. And given the new normal, social distancing will be the word and the practice of the day, both on the first 18 holes and at the 19th hole. Sign up now so that you don’t get left out.
