Thirsty Thursday Results – June 11th

The game this week was an A-B-C-D four-man team Stableford competition. As a reminder, 144 points is “par” for Stableford where all four team members shoot their handicap.

Flight 1 was a run-away with the Team of Bryan Edgar (more on him later), Tom Richards, David Bothwell, and Vic Bell shooting a score of 143 points, 10 better than the 2nd place team. Flight 2 was a bit closer with the winning team of Peter Altman, John Higgins, Ed Baxter, and Alan Kane shooting a score of 146, 5 better than the runner-up team. It should be noted that this team was the only team that scored better than a par of 144.

A special SHOUT OUT goes to Bryan Edgar who shot a 71 today and was a major contributor to his team winning first place in Flight 1. We also had Scott Stockslager helping his team take 3rd place in Flight 2 by shooting a Natural Eagle on hole #14. And finally, our new person of the day Gary Mehes got his “LMGA career” off to a great start, helping his team shoot a score of 141 which earned them 2nd place in Flight 2. Way to go Bryan, Scott and Gary!!!

A special thanks goes to the LMGA folks who made this event a huge success while ensuring everyone stayed safe and followed all the Corona Virus guidelines. Thank you President Frank Schepis for overall organization and beverage service; Tom Seipel and Larry Brown for handling our beverages; Bob Hainly for his scorekeeping; and John Bellucci, Steve Skipper, and Mike Munro for continuing to keep us organized despite many last-minute changes.

Next week our 2020 B-A Cup season continues at Palmetto with our 6th match of the year. As a reminder, Deer Creek is in first-place with 4.0 points while Plantation is close behind in 2nd place with 2.5 points. Oakridge with 2.0 points is in 3rd place while Marshwood is DFL with 1.5 points. But that could all change next week when the 1st place team plays the DFL team and the 2nd place team plays the 3rd place team.

The game will be 4-Ball (2-Man Best Bal)l match play where 2 Man teams select one net best ball score for each hole. Individual Foursome tee times, and special scorecard and beverage handling procedures at the 19th hole will again be the order of the day. The usual beverages will be served and late breaking news, food will also be served but with some new Corona Virus social distancing restrictions. Sign up now so that you don’t get left out.
