We had 20 Foursomes at Deer Creek for Thirsty Thursday play using the Club and LMGA Corona Virus social distancing rules. Individual Foursome tee times, and special scorecard and beverage handling procedures at the 19th hole were again the order of the day. The game this week was Stableford with four-man ABCD mixed-handicap teams, competing against other four-man teams. As a reminder, “par” in Stableford is 144 points for a foursome.
In Flight 1, the Foursome of Scott Stockslager, Tom Stephens, Steve Voss, and William Darsney ran away with first place, winning with a score of 146 which was 8 strokes better than the 2nd place finisher. But things were quite different in Flight 2. The Foursome of Greg Snyder, Richard Oswald, John Evans, and Eddie Ambrose won by a single stroke with a score of 134. Three teams finished right behind them with scores of 133 leading to a massive scorecard playoff for 2nd and 3rd places. And it should be pointed out that our Flight 1 winning team was the only one of the 20 teams that finished better than par!
Given the Corona Virus restrictions, there was no Skins competition. But we did have a clear DFL “winner”. One of the Flight 1 foursomes (you know who you are!) barely squeezed into 3 figures with a score of 100, 13 strokes worse than the next lowest team. You did count the scores for all 4 of your players, didn’t you???
And extra kudos again are in order for President Frank Schepis for overall organization of our weekly get-together and serving beverages in the proper Corona Virus way; Tom Seipel for handling the delivery of our ice-cold beverages; Greg Snyder for his help with scorekeeping; and John Bellucci, Steve Skipper, and Mike Munro for continuing to keep us organized despite many last-minute changes. A SHOUT-OUT TO Y’ALL!
Next Thursday the B-A Cup season continues at Marshwood. The game will be individual net score match play, one against one. Deer Creek plays against Plantation while Marshwood takes on Oakridge. As a reminder, Deer Creek is in the lead with 3.0 points, Plantation second with 2.5 points, Marshwood is third with 1.5 points, and Oakridge has the DFL “honors” with 1.0 points. But that could all change as the 1st place team will be playing the 2nd and the 3rd place team plays against the 4th. Beverages will be served but food will not due to Corona Virus social distancing restrictions. Individual Foursome tee times, and special scorecard and beverage handling procedures at the 19th hole will again be used. Sign up now so that you don’t get left out.
