Thirsty Thursday Results – May 28th

Individual Foursome tee times, and special scorecard and beverage handling procedures at the 19th hole were again the order of the day. The game this week was the crowd favorite Pick-6 Scramble where there was an A-B and a C-D Flight. Each team had to use six tee shots from three different teeing grounds: A-B teams choose from Tournament, Club, and Course-Named tees; and C-D teams selected from Club, Medal, and Skidaway tees.

In Flight 1, the Foursome of Scott Stockslager, Tony Lombard, Eddie O’Donnell, and John Bellucci took 1st place with a net score of 54, edging out the foursome of Keith Krueger, Kevin Olson, Peter Quinn, and Tom Stephens by 2 shots who finished in second place by winning a scorecard playoff. Our winning Flight 1 foursome also took the honors for the lowest gross score of the day, shooting a 61 while our runner-up Foursome had 3 gross Eagles.

Flight 2 was even closer with the Foursome of Tom Richards, Mike Morris, Rib Rubin, and Alan Kane taking first place by 1 stroke with a net score of 50 which was the low net score of the day. Finishing 1 stroke back with a net score of 51 was the Foursome of Don Snyder, Bruce Decker, Kerry Fosse, and Jon Sweet.

We want to give a big SHOUT OUT to Tom Richards (yes, the same Tom Richards who was a member of our Flight 1 winning team), Jay Carey, and Brian Kornblatt who were our new players this week. Hope to see y’all in many more Thirsty Thursday events. Also, a big SHOUT OUT goes to Ron Thomas for holing out a team Albatross on #6 from about 150 yards. And we did not have a clear DFL “winner” as all Foursomes finished with scores of 62 or better.

Extra kudos again are in order for President Frank Schepis for overall organization of our weekly get-together; Tom Seipel for handling the delivery of our ice-cold beverages; Greg Snyder for his help with scorekeeping; and John Bellucci, Steve Skipper, and Mike Munro for continuing to keep us organized despite many last-minute changes.

Next Thursday we are at Palmetto for a Flighted Stableford competition. There will be an A-B Flight and a C-D Flight for four-man team Stableford. Individual Foursome tee times, and special scorecard and beverage handling procedures at the 19th hole will again be used. Sign up now so that you don’t get left out.
