Thirsty Thursday Results – September 10th

Our game this week was Team Stableford with four-man A-B-C-D teams competing against each other with their total Stableford scores. There were two Flights with a total of 19 teams, and as a reminder, 144 is “par”.

The winning team in Flight 1 with 144 points was the team of Mike Towson, Doug Ward, Tom Richards, and Tom Kunce, 5 points better than the runner-up team. Flight 2 produced similar results where the winning team of Dave Creasy, Charlie Bradford, and Brian Mitchell also scored 144 points, 8 points better than the second-place team. Way to go guys as it has been rare with the new handicap system for teams to reach “par” in a Stableford game! The players list and results are attached.

A big SHOUT-OUT goes to our one new player this week – Warren Lewis. And a big WELCOME-BACK goes to Steve Chaplin who joined us today after a hiatus due to other commitments. While neither of you were on any of the winning teams, we hope to see you in the upcoming weeks break into the Victory Circle.

And as always, a special thanks goes to the LMGA folks who continue to make these events huge successes while ensuring everyone stays safe and follows all the Corona Virus guidelines. Thank you, President Frank Schepis, for overall organization and Don Snyder for beverage service; Tom Seipel and Steve Voss for handling our beverages; and John Bellucci, Steve Skipper, and Mike Munro for continuing to keep us organized despite many last-minute changes.

Next Thursday at Magnolia we will play the final Thursday B-A Cup match of the 2020 season which will determine the seedings for the 3-day B-A Cup tournament in October. First place Deer Creek will play 3rd place Oakridge while 2nd place Palmetto will play last place Marshwood. The game will be 4-Ball match play where 2-man teams will select one net best ball on every hole. Individual Foursome tee times, and special scorecard and beverage handling procedures at the 19th hole will again be the order of the day. And lunch will be served in addition to the usual Thirsty Thursday beverages that we all have become accustomed to. Sign up now so that you don’t get left out.
