Thirsty Thursday Results – September 26th

Over 55 players showed up at Palmetto this week to play the Two or More format where each four-man team needed to take two net-balls or more on each hole. There were 2 flights with 7 teams per Flight.

Flight 1 was a runaway with the team of Mike McGough (the 2019 President's Cup winner), our LMGA President Bob Hainly, Scott Happ, and Kerry Fosse shooting a -20, 4 strokes better than the 2nd place finisher and 8 strokes ahead of the 3rd place finisher. Flight 2 was a totally different story with the team of Doug Duncan, Scott Lauback, Jeff DeLuca, and Mark Rosenbaum shooting a -18 which was 1 stroke better than the second place team of Greg Snyder, Gary Poleynard, Ted Bumsted, and Rufus Freeman (now if only one of you had made that putt …..). Close behind were 2 teams tied with scores of -16 (and if one of you had made that putt ….).

The competition was just as heated going for the DFL “prize”. There were 5 teams with single digit scores but the team of Joel Klein, Kevin Olson, Rick Cricenti, and John Majeroni “sealed the deal” with a score of -6, 2 strokes worse than their nearest competitor. There was a rumor that they only played 9 holes but that might have been attributed to “fake news”!

In the Skins competition, there was a clear winner. Lee Bodary won 3 of the 6 Skins (a feat rarely achieved) with Don Snyder, Gef Fleming, and Herb Gallagher winning the remaining 3 Skins. A great big SHOUT-OUT goes to Lee for his play today which included back-to-back net-Eagles on holes 9 and 10 (what a way to end a Front Nine and start a Back Nine)!!! And a great big WELCOME BACK goes to Paul Ewaldsen who re-joined the LMGA-fold. Pace of play was good today with some teams into the scoreboard within 3 ½ hours and all teams back in around 4 hours.

So, congratulations to all our winners. Next week we will be at Deer Creek to play a Red/White/Yellow format where four-man teams will be required to take 3 net-balls on greens with a red (front) flag, 2 net-balls on white (middle) flag holes, and 1 net-ball on yellow (back) flag holes. Sign up soonest so you don’t miss out on all the action.
