Our game this week was Front/Back/Overall scores using the Team Stableford scoring system. 4-man teams competed using their total Stableford score for the Front (holes 1-9), Back (holes 10-18), and Overall (all 18 holes) with no “double-dipping” allowed. There were two A-B-C-D Flights with a total of 16 teams, none of whom broke into the 140s (as a reminder, 144 is “par”).
The Overall winner in Flight 1 with 130 points was the team of Kevin Brandon, Richard Oswald, Eric Rosenstock, and Bill Wolod, beating the nearest competitor by 6 points. Winning the Front Nine by 1 point with a score of 65 was the team of Charlie Bradford, Mark Dusek, Rib Rubin, and Ron Thomas. The Back Nine was won by the team of Joel Klein, Tony Lombard, Steve Thomas, and David Healy who earned 68 points, 2 points more than their nearest competitor.
Flight 2 was a squeaker. The team of Neal Lieberman, John Bellucci, Ted Bumsted, and Dave Walradt won with 136 points, edging out the team of Frank Schepis, Larry Batanian, Don Snyder, and David Evans who earned 135 points. But all was not lost for Frank’s foursome as they picked up a win on the Back Nine with 73 points as Neal’s team couldn’t double-dip with their Back Nine score of 74. On the Front Nine, the team of Keith Krueger, Bruce Decker, Tom Stevens, and Vic Bell won a scorecard playoff at 63 points while there were 3 additional teams at 62 points (talk about the importance of a missed putt here and there). And in case you might be confused about all of this, the players list and results are attached.
A big SHOUT-OUT goes to our one new player this week – Page Thomson. While you weren’t on any of the winning teams (nor any DFL teams), we hope to see you in the upcoming weeks break into the Victory Circle.
And as always, a special thanks goes to the LMGA folks who continue to make these events huge successes while ensuring everyone stays safe and follows all the Corona Virus guidelines. Thank you, President Frank Schepis, for overall organization and Don Snyder for beverage service; Tom Seipel and Steve Voss for handling our beverages; and John Bellucci, Steve Skipper, and Mike Munro for continuing to keep us organized despite many last-minute changes.
Next week our game will be Team Stableford with four-man teams competing against each other with their total Stableford scores. Play will be at the recently reopened Deer Creek course. Individual Foursome tee times, and special scorecard and beverage handling procedures at the 19th hole will again be the order of the day. Sign up now so that you don’t get left out.
