Thursday play on March 12 took place on the Palmetto course as strong wind gusts added to the degree of difficulty. Fifty LMGA members competed in team Stableford competition. Flight 1 winners were Michael L'Hommedieu; Tom Stephens; Don Snyder and Tom Lanahan. Flight 2 winners were Stephen Chaplin; Gary Howard; Ken Tomlinson and Bill Jess. As always winners collected 100 LMGA player points and a boatload of pro shop credits. Afterward the group gathered for pizza and a rules discussion with Paul Kruger. Attendees now understand that when their ball lands in a tree along a hazard, their options are determined not by where the tree is rooted but by where the ball position viewed vertically. They also now know they can be disqualified from a tournament for making practice swings with club swing weight attached while on the course. (Take note, J.O.).
