Tournament for a Cure Sign-Up Begins Soon

Save the Date: Together for a Cure April 20, 2021

LMGA members are invited to participate in the annual tournament to raise money for cancer research at the Mercer School of Medicine. Formerly known as Golf for a Cure, Together for a Cure will include pickleball, croquet, tennis, and bocce players.

The golf tournament filled all of the available Landings courses in 2019. LMGA members accounted for 140 of the 419 golfers that year; this year’s goal is 200 men golfers. The four-person scramble tournament raised over $100,000 in 2019 and the event organizers hope the wider scope of activity will up that amount to at least $150,000.

Money raised will go for state-of-the-art equipment and also to support medical students who participate in the LWGA’s Summer Scholars program.

LMGA members can register their 4-person team at https://www.LWGA.net/TFAC/ when it goes live on Feb. 14. LMGA members who register as individuals will be assigned to teams. The fee is $400 per team or $100 per individual.

LMGA members also can contribute to the effort by purchasing a tribute sign for $7 in honor of someone fighting cancer or someone who lost their life to it. Mulligans will be sold only online and through February 13. There also will be a raffle. Tickets will be sold on an LMGA play day or can be purchased at LWGA.net/TFAC after Feb. 14. Contact for the raffle is Gretchen Nazuruk at kechup57@AOL.com.

In addition, hole sponsorships are available starting at $250. Contact for sponsorships is Laura Gebele at lgebele121@gmail.com. To contribute prizes for the raffle contact Deb Wilson at debinjersey@gmail.com.
