Two Trailing Teams Tighten Standings in B-A Cup

By Rick Colvin

Marshwood and Palmetto, the two teams trailing in the year-long Bouchillon-Ambrose Cup, narrowly won their matches in the four-ball competition June 16 on the Deer Creek course, tightening the standings while leaving Oakridge still at the top.

Marshwood defeated Deer Creek 5-4 ¾ to move into a tie for second place with Deer Creek, one point behind Oakridge. Marshwood’s Doug Duncan, playing in overflow because of a mismatch in the number of players on the two teams, contributed the winning quarter-point by surpassing his Stableford target.

Palmetto put only its second point on the board by defeating Oakridge 5 ½ to 5 but remain in last place, one point out of second.

Three more regular season matches remain.
