Wednesday Evening Play Results – July 22nd

As a reminder, the game each week is a 9-hole Foursome A-B-C-D Team Scramble with team prizes based on gross scores, supplemented by a Skins game.

This week we had 20 players including one of our Club pros (Spencer Scheeler). The scores were once again extremely close with three teams tied with a winning score of 31 followed by a 32 and a 33.

It was decided in previous weeks that instead of breaking ties by a scorecard playoff, we would have a chip-off. The three teams tied at 31 were Team 1 of Eddie Ambrose, Cliff Spiro, Paul D’Angio, and Bill Tomassini; Team 4 with Spencer Scheeler, Tom Richards, Bill Horne, and Liam Horne; and Team 5 with Jim Boyce, Jonathan Johnston, Greg Maloof, and Lawton Davis. Two members of each team chipped to a very difficult pin placement on the practice chipping green (no pros were permitted to represent a team in the chip off). Bill Tomassini chipped to within fourteen feet of the pin to lead Team 1 to the victory.

Regarding Skins, there were three skins that were won. Team 1 birdied hole #2; the team of Greg Snyder, Bob Gardner, Doug Duncan, and Ross Petronchak eagled hole #4 (way to go guys!); and Team 4 birdied hole #9.

All the players had a great time and enjoyed the customary complementary beverages after the match while determining the winners via a chip-off. We were glad to see the increased number of players and especially welcome were more of our LMGA’s working members. Thanks to all who participated.

Next Wednesday, the Wednesday Evening Scramble will be at 6pm on Magnolia. LMGA welcomes all our members and especially our working members to join in and play. Our pros have added an extra measure of fun to the game and a great opportunity to get them to meet and play with LMGA members. Sign-up by calling the Marshwood Golf Shop on Wednesday July 29th from 9:00am to 3:00pm to register. And then show up before 5:45 on Wednesday evening to play. That is all there is to it; the rest will be handled by the Club Pros and the LMGA leadership. Hope to see y’all there.
